Story Baskets was created based on my own experience with raising my first child in those early years. Each day I would go in his playroom and try to come up with different ways to interact with him using his toys. I started to feel like everyday was groundhog day. We were doing the same things over and over again and I was getting bored, which meant he was getting bored. Having a background in education, I thought how can I bring some of these activities to life and make them more meaningful with an opportunity of learning through play?
My first response was thematic play. I would take a week and plan toys, books and activities around a specific theme such as birds, dinosaurs, construction vehicles or whatever he seemed interested in at the time. I would post some of the activities to my personal Instagram and had friends and family with little ones asking me to share more. I figured if my inner circle found some of my ideas useful, then other mommas would too. From there I created the Instagram account @story.baskets. The idea was simply to take a book and create a few activities to go along with it and keep that theme going for a week or as long as my little one seemed interested in the topic.
I started to get many messages from other mommas that they wish they had more time to set up activities like what I was sharing or that they just simply didn’t have the same books. I wanted to solve this problem for them and that is where our Story Basket Activity Kits came to mind.
You can simply purchase a kit that includes the books, activities and resource guide without any of the planning, scouring for resources or creation of materials. This saves mommas time and energy allowing them to focus on spending that quality time with their children, knowing that they are offering memorable experiences that value education and play.
